Highlighting ROAM Gallery Artist
Chris Gilmour, Visual Artist
Art for me is a life-long passion. I paint because it’s what I do, it’s what I must do! I paint daily, painting absorbs me, it is exciting, frustrating and fulfilling. I escape to the studio’s solitude, to the music, to the easel...I paint. I paint in a variety of mediums acrylic, oil and encaustic. Each medium requires different techniques and unique interactions. Its pure joy, when all goes well. Studied with David Korff at Lambton College, Pat Burke and John Henry at St. Clair County Community College… Self taught in oil and encaustic with the aid of the internet and influenced by Encaustic Artist Alicia Tormey of Seattle. On-line affiliations to All Things Encaustic and International Encaustic Artists have enhanced my work. My credits include several successful solo and group shows. Galleries included The Lawrence House Centre for the Arts, Kenneith Gallery, Artopia and R.W. Lawson Gallery in Ontario and the Lakeland Artists Group, Florida. As an artist, new learning, exploration and artistic development will always be part of my mantra. My inspiration is derived from nature. I gravitate to seascapes I guess it relates to my surroundings in beautiful “Bluewater Land”. . ROAM Gallery Show - TBA
