Highlighting ROAM Gallery Artist
Colleen Tyler - Painter
I love to create things. This obsession started as a young adult when I put a woodworking shop in my basement and made furniture and wooden toys for children. When I went back to University and space became an issue, I started making quilts in glorious, bold colors, some of which became personal beds for the many animals I know. Then I went to a Paint Night and discovered painting.
I’m drawn to animals and scenes from the North Shore that involve mountain bikes (my two passions). When painting animals, I love to capture a certain expression or gesture – contemplative, haunting, maybe looking right through you. When painting North Shore scenes, I like to capture the tricky woodwork on the trail, light coming through the trees or the glimpse of a rider having the time of their life.
