Highlighting ROAM Gallery Artist
Andrew Booth - Painter
Andrew Booth is a self-taught abstract and figurative artist, born and raised in Abbotsford, BC. All of his paintings are a mix of acrylic and oil on canvas, and are shown privately and publicly throughout Vancouver, BC.
“Through abstract portraitures, structures and space, I started painting to create a universal language that provokes emotion, creates deep engagement, and inspires abstract thought. The creation of each one of my paintings starts at the first stroke; there are no sketches, diagrams, or plans, but rather instinct, spontaneity, and feeling. Blurred imagery, featureless figures, darkness, and absurdity are all integral elements of my work.”
“I love what I don’t understand. I feel the process of interpreting art is equally as rewarding as – if not more rewarding than - the final stage of understanding. Each piece crafted is a visual riddle, with the expectation that some riddles can and will be left unsolved by the viewer.”
